60s VIBE

What describes this collection best? I would summarise it as OVER THE RAINBOW…..the collection features crayola bright colours—lime green, acid yellow, neon orange; the neon hues gave a jolt of energy to the simple mod-esque shift dresses.
Lauren also chucked in hints of 60s monochrome, along with floral coats, pinstripe peplum jackets and beautifully tailored three piece suits cut in a grid print. I really love this ready to wear collection  by Lauren its oh so refreshing…..

Ralph Lauren Denim and Supply- COLLAB WITH AVICII

Fashionista: In the U.S. we often try to copy the minimalist, utilitarian style that’s so popular in Sweden, but you seem to have a very American sense of style, making you the perfect face for Denim & Supply. Did you stand out when you were growing up in terms of what you wore?
Avicii: No, not really. I’ve always had a pretty basic style, so I feel that I blended right in.
How did Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren approach you to collaborate? Did you help to style or concept the “Wake Me Up” music video (in which Denim & Supply models wear the label throughout) with their team?
Right from the start, Ralph Lauren has been one of the best relationships we’ve had. We’ve done so much together and they’ve been a huge asset, and their clothes are what I would normally wear. If I’d gone with other brands, I might have felt like I had sold out, but with them, I was already wearing their clothes. It was a no-brainer to collaborate with Denim & Supply. I have enjoyed working with Mark Seliger who photographs all the advertising, so it seemed like a natural extension of the relationship to have him direct the video.
When you’re packing to go on the road, what are the wardrobe essentials that you’d never leave without?
Plaid shirts, baseball hats, jeans, and hoodies.
When you’re performing, do you put any extra thought into what you wear on stage, or do you go for function over form?
I like to be comfortable, so what you see me wear on stage is what you see me wear at home—I like to keep things simple!
You’ve played at music festivals all over the world in the last couple of years—are there any trends that your fans wear in the crowd that have really stood out to you?
American fans definitely know how to stand out—a lot of neon and those super crazy outfits… but I think it’s great.

Ralph Lauren- Pintrest

For our second project we were required to make a presentation, on the past present and the now, as a group on our chosen brand. We decided to look at Ralph Lauren because we felt it had quite a bit of history plus not many of us knew much about Ralph Lauren so we thought it would be interesting to get to know the brand a bit better.

We all started to look at different areas of Ralph Lauren and decided to set up a Pintrest so it was easy for us all to access and view what we had done. Above are some images of our groups work so far.

Fashion LOVES Art

After todays lecture it made me realise how much art really does influence fashion. After surfing the net a couple days ago I remember reading about a Damien Hirst Alexander McQueen Scarf Collaboration.

since its First appearance in Alexander McQueens Irere collection back in 2OO3 the iconic skull scarf has become a signature item in the fashion houses accessory range. To celelbrate its 10th anniversary Alexander McQueen has invited  Damien Hirst to create a new scarf collection which is available in McQueen boutiques and at www.AlexanderMcqueen.com from the 15th of November.

The scarf collection consists of 30 one-off designs featuring various insects that together form McQueens signature skull shape. The designs were adapted from Hirsts Entomology paintings in which he used insects to create colourful kaleidoscopic images.

Brand Essence- Looking at different brands

This task really made us think about what brand essence, positioning and differentiation. This was useful because it allowed us to understand what different brands were all about, their motifs, their consumer targets and the brands personality.
